How to care & Fold Your Kimono

Important Note – Silk Kimono & Haori
  • After taking off your kimono, do not fold it right away. Hang it on a kimono hanger in a cool, well-ventilated, shaded area.

  • Keep your kimono away from direct sunlight, as it can cause fading or damage to the fabric.

  • Do not spray fabric freshener directly on the kimono.

  • Do not leave your kimono hanging for too long, especially a lined kimono, as the fabric can stretch.

  • Once it is completely dry, fold your kimono or haori and store it properly. Kimono are meant to be folded for storage rather than left hanging for long periods.

For silk kimono or haori, please do not wash them or take them to a regular dry cleaner in Canada. Silk kimono require special care.
